Well , the farm is usually hum- ming with activity anyway so it will not be scared when Douglas and Jeanine wind up their tops . - Wednesday was watehnight at the Metho- dist church in Mears and our boys and girls wound up their best watches and put them on their wrists or under their belts . Those who didn't have a watch wound up the alarm clocks and left them on the shelf at home . Games were digested . cookies and cake frosting were eaten and the final hour from eleven onward was spent in a service up- stairs . Dr. Nicholson went up in Canada for a couple of days because his brother was sick there . Nick Hadiaris came home from the Uni- versity of Ann Arbor to see how smooth were the jet black tables in the paternal cafe . - Edith Dempsey goes back now to her teaspoon and thermometer in Columbus . - Jake Tackx brought his wife home from Detroit to see if his mother had any sugared doughnuts in the cookie jar . Jake likes doughnuts better than any other kind of nuts - Milton II . Pugsley was 85 years old the other day . - Vietor and Clarence Pear- son are milking Guernseys at Silver Hills Farm now . Ruth Riddell came home from the chemical city of Midland to eat Christmas break- fast at the breakfast table in her parental home by the creek . - Verne Skinner is down at the Rapids studying the newest styles in neckties and suspenders . - Young Sig Stembol came home from Alabama to spend his academic vacation in the big stone house at Rothbury . - Rev . Gary DeWitt , no relation to DeWitt's little liver pills , announced Sun- day that he had accepted a call to the Hope Reformed church in De- troit . All his members wanted him to stay in New Era . Nevertheless he decided to embark on a new era . The L. E. Ray home was lighted brightly Saturday night as the hat rack was dusted off for a party for Henry Fischer and his bride Dorothy . If the Rays didn't have a hat rack they could borrow one off a reindeer , as that is a sort of horse with a hat rack on . Mrs. Ellen Till hasn't moved into her new house yet Mrs. Cooper in Shelby just built an elegant new house and will get married . But Mrs. Till will probably still be Mrs. Till in her house on the hill - Genevieve Russell brought her Christmas stocking home
