Peach Puddings are ripe in the Land of Mears

-The school millage election in Mears July 14 was highly irregular in form . Voting was not permitted until a late hour and some of the peo- ple who came to vote had gone home . The township clerk called the at- tention of the chairman to a number of irregularities . At one time the chairman directed everybody to write his own name on his ballot . This was objected to and later rescinded . The state law requires the millage votes to be cast and counted in conformity to the general election law . Swift Lathers filed a bill of complaint in the circuit court in chancery and this week Judge Earl C. Pugsley handed down a decree setting the election aside and granting an injunction against Supervisor Maurice Foster ,, preventing him from spreading any tax authorized by the July 14 election . The school secretary's report mentioned some eight hundred dollars worth of unpaid bills . Very interesting if you do a little think- ing . Of what do the $ 800 worth of unpaid bills consist ? Wasn't $ 600 of it for bus transportation which the school board ordered of their own initiative without a vote of the people ? A school janitor could be hired for much less money . Why not put the job up for bids ? In Ferry a tax- payer tells us they pay $ 30 a month for a janitor in $ 30 a month for a janitor in their two - room school . In many a country school where there is a furnace the teacher does the janitor work without exrta pay or for five or ten dollars a month , Hundreds of dollars could be saved in Mears every year in this way . You can ring a bell if you want to buy a postal card . - Robert Wiener and his boy friends lost their horse trail in the sumnes and were late for dinner.- Silver Hills Tina , one of the registered Guernsey cows at Silver Hills Farm , is licking her new heifer calf , born the other day . Here come Those Barton girls across the dunes , Floranell and Marian , both from Dearborn , Floranell with her husband , Bert Babcock . Marian will be a

junior at the Ann Arbor university this fall .

If she had brought her water colors along she would have painted my picture , but she didn't so she was looking for an old camp fire to get a piece of charcoal . He attended Christian Youth conference at Oslo , Norway , and studied the youth pro- gram at Les Chamblon , France . for two years in this country he was president of the National Pilgrim Fellowship of the Congregational churches of America . - Caroline Reynolds walkes a mile in from the country to work in McLaren's drug store in Hesperia and in so doing keeps a lovely school girl complexion . Elsie Christian works there too but thinks she will take home a bottle of Kolorback and sprinkle it on her comb . Frank Gates of Fremont comes back from Knowles ' feed store and opens up his barnyard gates . Carl Null nullifies the hunger of his pigs by middlings from the same place . - George R. Flint found A good place to eat when he got invited - up to the Haggander cottage to eat his meals with five widows from his home town . Decatur , Illinois .
